Dr. Samee Khan

Title: Connected World: Past, Present, and Future

Bio:

Samee U. Khan received a Ph.D. in 2007 from the University of Texas. Currently, he is the James W. Bagley Chair Professor and Department Head of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the Mississippi State University (MSU). Before arriving at MSU, he was Cluster Lead (2016-2020) for Computer Systems Research at National Science Foundation and the Walter B. Booth Professor at North Dakota State University. His research interests include optimization, robustness, and security of computer systems. His work has appeared in over 400 publications. He is associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing and Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing.

Abstract:

The Internet has revolutionized our lives, connecting a myriad of devices that collect, process, and assist humans in making informed decisions. A conversation about the boom of devices connected to the Internet will take place in this talk. The journey of the Internet of Things (IoT); where are we now; what may we see in the next decade? and what will be the main challenges and opportunities across the emerging field and interrelated domains of big data and artificial intelligence?
